Boda internacional en Belfast

17/08/2018

Go!

The story of this international wedding in Belfast is very beautiful to tell. It’s always gratifying when a friend entrusts you with safeguarding their memories but, when it’s a person who is more brother than friend, the pressure and the honour skyrockets. More than 25 shared years of life is not insignificant and for this (although the pressure was on) I didn’t want to miss the opportunity of being with Edu and Bex on the most special day of their lives. So, within hours of my friend getting down on one knee the planning commenced.

Although those who read this will think that the beauty of this wedding was its stunning location, for me it was the couple who gave life to this story; my friend Eduardo, a guy with clear ideas, a spirit of determination, born pursuer of excellence; and of course Miss Mitchell, Northern Irish born and bred, who left her country for the love of her life, a person who ticked all the boxes for being Edu’s wife (which was no mean feat).

The international wedding in Belfast

As the big day drew closer a group of close-knit friends journeyed to the place where Edu and Bex met. We landed in Dublin and spent the afternoon in the legendary Temple Bar area and walked along the banks of the River Liffey. A few days later we explored the Northern Irish Coast, from Carrickfergus Castle to the Giant’s Causeway via the infamous Carrick-a-rede rope-bridge. We were blown away by the incredibly green landscape and views over the Irish Sea.

The day of the wedding dawned in typical British fashion; with cloudy skies and intervals of rain. The Northern Irish locals were well accustomed to this and the foreigners didn’t let a little rain dampen their wedding spirits as they made their way to Knockbreda Methodist Church. After the ceremony the celebrations continued at Edenmore Golf and Country Club, where we could enjoy the stunning views of sweeping countryside. Mother’s Little Helpers, the wedding band, led the bride, groom and their loved ones to the wee hours of the morning, celebrating in true Irish style.

The following day, still on a wedding high, the newly-weds and their destination wedding photographer took a walk (and many photos) around Belfast city centre, even going as far as the magical Botanic Gardens.

This is the love story of one (because the best are yet to come) of the happiest days in the life a Spanish guy and a Northern Irish girl. I hope that they enjoy reliving these days almost as much as I enjoyed my first adventure as an international wedding photographer.
